It’s my birthday month!!!! WoooHooo.

The 19th is my actual birth date but you know how it is. . . Celebrate while you can.

Anyway, I got some great gifts.  My best friend gave me a set of attachments for my KitchenAid stand mixer and a new paddle attachment! I am so happy and excited to put them to use.

We plan on shredding some cheese for a new recipe tonight. So if all goes well, you will have a new recipe very soon!

My husband was very thoughtful this birthday.  He gave me my own Web Site!  How cool is that?

This means that I will be moving  Creative Arts & Eatables to my new location and you are coming along with me.

All of you who have subscribed to my blog will continue to receive email notifications of new posts.

If you do not get the email notification then that means you have probably just chosen to FOLLOW me. If this is the case, Please do Subscribe.

I have made it very easy on the new site by adding a Follow me Now area in the side bar.

Nothing will change but the location (all my old  posts have transferred) so I hope everyone will SUBSCRIBE and keep enjoying my blog and posts.

Until Then,

Well here I am to give the last post about my wonderful birthday weekend of camping and hiking.  We did a smaller hike up to Pulpit Rock.  It was a beautiful morning and the view was breath-taking.

It is so amazing how the rocks balance like they do.

We came across this guy who was gearing up to rappel down the side of the cliff.

Weird how we only ran into 3 people the entire time we were up there hiking.

All on different days.

I just can not help myself when it comes to this Man.

I love sneaking photos of him while he is sitting

and contemplating Life

This little fella was hanging around while we were preparing our last meal if the trip.

While steaks sizzled on the grill, we sat and watched the sun set.

The evening could not have been more perfect.

I love you Stephen for planning such a wonderful birthday getaway.

As much fun as this trip was and sooooo relaxing. I was a bit ready to pack up and head back home.

I am ready to see my Fur Babies and get hugs and kisses from them.

As you can see. . .

They were ready for us to return home too!

Until Then,

So I am back with the second part of my wonderful camping adventure.

On our first hike of the trip which was the Lake trail, I was geared up and ready to go.

We took some photos and got right to it.

The view was beautiful.

It was a cooler morning which was nice but it got hot quick!

The Lake Trail is approximately 1 mile long. This trail has a more than 1,000 foot elevation change in the first 1/2 mile.

I did mention that this was my first hike EVER!

This photo was me at the bottom of the trail. I made it 1/2 way!

When we got to the bottom of the trail we grabbed a snack at the little store there. I heard the guy attendant say under his breath to the other attendant

” I guess they need a ride back up to the top. Another couple who thought they could handle the full hike.”

At that point I was determined to make the full hike!  I politely said thank for the snacks and that we were off for the hike back to the top!

He smiled a foot in mouth smile and I turned and trotted off!

Don’t judge me!

This is the start of the trail back up the mountain.

It was such a pretty day. But there were times that I felt as though I was climbing the Pass to Cirith Ungol.

All that was missing was Frodo, Sam and Gollum!  It was hot and the vertical climb was insane.

But I loved every minute of it.

We made it back in one piece and only 900 mosquito bites each.

We were totally ready for the cool shower and a nice relaxing evening listening to the insects sing us to sleep.

Only a few more photos left of the last day but again that will be in a day or 2.

Until Then,

Greeting my wonderful people!

I had the most amazing birthday this year.  Not only did my wonderful husband buy me a canoe, he also booked us a cabin at MT. Cheaha!

It is about a 4 hour drive from my home town of Mobile, AL, which is nothing.

So We packed up the jeep with the bikes, canoe, camping grill, bits and bobbles and headed up North for my first ever Camping Adventure!

Yep you read that correct. Just turned 43 and this is my First time camping.

I guess we cheated a bit because we had a cabin. It had a kitchen and AC, but it was a wonderful experience all the same.  If you ever a chance to visit the area please do. It was beautiful.

This is the inside of the cabin. It is small but perfect.

You can see the entire thing in this one photo.

We took a break from unpacking to get a quick photo.

Then it was time to relax and let the birthday fun begin!

The sunset was beautiful. . .

And the next morning was divine.

Nice and cool while I drank my coffee and waited for Mr. to wake up.

We saw many of these little lizards. They are really curious and hella fast!

Now it is time for a nice ride before we start our day of hiking.

I have quite a few more photos so I will say farewell for the moment. I will post the second set very soon!

Until Then,

It is a beautiful day!

My Mr. and I are finally getting to go canoeing!

Oh,  did I forget to mention that he bought me a canoe for my birthday that is coming up in 18 days?????

He completely surprised me with it! We have been talking about getting a canoe or kayaks for a few years now but we never acted on it.

And just like that out of the blue we are now proud owners of a canoe.

He has been working on a way to store it in the garage so we can just drive the jeep under it and lower it right on top.

It is working out well. I thought of using pool noodles to keep it from scratching the top!

Aren’t I  clever?

Getting ready to head to Mobile Bay.

We are heading down one of the many little water ways that cut through the marsh lands.

I am sure he will be thrilled that I put this on here. Oh well, we had a blast.

I am sure there are going to be many more posts of our new hobby!

Until Then,

In the words of a Good Southern Woman ” Lord have mercy on my soul and body.  I’m turning 40 in 3 days! Bless my heart.”

It amazes me how time has flown.  How my youth just slipped past me in the blink of an eye. I remember as a child thinking I can not wait til I turn 13 so I was a teenager, then 16 so I could drive, 18 and I graduated and 21 I could drink. Then At 25 I started to dread turning 30 because it was so old, 35 was down hill from there but I find myself sitting on 39 for the next few days and I am actually pretty ok with turning the big 40. I have found myself making some big decisions this past week. I quit my job on Saturday and feel really good about it. I am taking a week or 2 off to figure stuff out and then the job search really begins.  I want to make sure that what ever I decide to do is fun, and that I enjoy it.  I know most people want a job they like and hardly find it, but I have hope and faith that I will.

I was blessed this month to have my Sister and niece and 2 great friends of mine come to town and spend some time with me. It is the little things like an afternoon at the beach, a day by the pool, dinner and drinks, along with amazing conversation that makes life awesome, wouldn’t you say?  So I will share some of my fun with you now. Enjoy!

There’s a house upon the hilltop

Please come inside.

For that is where the witches live,

Where ghosts and goblins hide.

Soon she’ll have her party,

All the lights are burning bright,

We’ll line up to go inside

The haunted house that night.

The demons there are whirling

And the spirits swirl about.

They sing their songs to Halloween.

“Come join the fun,” they shout.

 Everyone will be there

So try with all your might

And oh the magical fun we’ll have

In the haunted house that night.
